Information About Food Poisoning

December 4th, 2008 by herbalremedies

Food poisoning occurs when someone consumes spoiled food that has unhealthy and unsafe bacteria in it. The U.S. CDC estimates that food poisoning causes 76 million illnesses, 325,000 hospitalizations, and 5,000 deaths every year.

While there are around 250 diseases that can infect people through food, there are two major, overarching types of food poisoning. One way is “infectious agents” like viruses, bacteria, and parasites. Another ways is through “toxic agents.” These include mushrooms, foods that are properly or fully prepared, and foods that have not been cleaned completely and still contain things like pesticide. One of best ways to prevent food poisoning is through high levels of sanitation and hygiene.

So what are the symptoms?

These can vary, depending on the cause but most common symptoms are vomiting,, abdominal pain and diarrhea. However symptoms may also include fevers and chills, be as non descript as weakness and exhaustion. or as tangible as bloody stools, dehydration and muscle aches.

Common Sources of Food Poisoning

Campylobacter is the leading cause of bacterial food poisoning in the USA. It causes several million cases a year, resulting in hundreds of deaths. Eating undercooked chicken or food that has been in contact with raw chicken most commonly causes campylobacter. The Center for Disease Control estimates that up to 70%-90% of chickens are infected with campylobacter.

Avoid Food Poisoning

Always cook your meat well. When meat is uncooked or undercooked, there can be a lot of different kinds of bacteria which can still grow. Some of these might make you sick directly by interacting with cells that make up your stomach. Other bacteria will just keep growing on your meat and make toxins which will make you sick. If you’re eating meat that’s undercooked, you do run into some health risks if the meat is not well treated. If you cook your meat well or even overcook it a little, you kill all the harmful bacteria and you won’t get sick. Also, when you cook your meat well, you can refrigerate it safely for longer than undercooked meat.

Temperature: Keeping foods at the proper temperature-especially dairy, eggs, and meats-is very important. To properly store foods, keep your freezer set to zero degrees Fahrenheit and your fridge set 37 to 40 degrees.

Practicing good hygiene during the three stages of food preparation(before, after, during), can greatly reduce the chance of food poisoning. Be smart about your health and take the necessary precautions when working with food.

Don’t take your food out of the freezer and leave it on the kitchen counter to thaw.

This is extremely dangerous since the bacteria can grow in the outer layers of the food before the inside thaws.

Fibromyalgia Symptoms

December 4th, 2008 by herbalremedies

Fibromyalgia is a complex neurological disorder with a pronounced chronic character. Although the most common symptoms generated by fibromyalgia are generalized pain and fatigue, the disorder can cause many other manifestations. Most people with the disorder have a wide diversity of physical symptoms that evolve latently, rarely becoming visible. Due to the fact that most fibromyalgia symptoms can’t be detected by medical examinations, some people consider the disorder to be self-induced. However, the truth is that fibromyalgia is a serious condition and its symptoms are real.

Fibromyalgia is a neurological condition that affects the musculoskeletal soft tissues such as muscles, tendons and ligaments. The majority of people with fibromyalgia feel an intense muscular pain and discomfort, also accompanied by a pronounced level of fatigue throughout the whole body. At first, the muscular pain and fatigue usually occur in the upper parts of the body (neck, cervical region, upper back and shoulders), later spreading into other body regions (mid-back, arms, spine, lower back and thighs).

Musculoskeletal pain is top of the list. It’s a diffused pain which means it’s scattered throughout various parts of the body. Described as chronic, diffused musculoskeletal pain affects the sufferer in both the muscles and bones and can render them immobile for lengthy periods of time.

Some additional symptoms can include diarrhea, tension headaches, difficulty swallowing, numbness or tingling of the extremities, and recurrent abdominal pain. It is well known that stress, anxiety, depression, and lack of sleep will increase symptoms.

Patient education could be considered as an important first step in treating the symptoms of fibromyalgia. Proper education of the diverse symptoms may help patients cope up with their conditions. Unfortunately, not all doctors are very well acquainted with the symptoms present which basically put patients into a very vague spot. Fortunately, especially in the United States there are support groups in hospitals that help these patients cope up with their present conditions, these support groups also provides an avenue for the patients to share their experiences and treatment program strategies which may deem applicable to others.

Early symptoms of fibromyalgia can start as early as the teenage years, many years before the condition progresses to a debilitating point. Early on, many people find that they are constantly tired and have sore muscles, but they don’t do anything to treat the symptoms until later on when the pain begins to intensify and become unbearable.

Other common symptoms of Fibromyalgia are Irritable Bowel Syndrome, which includes diarrhea and constipation; migraine; facial pain; painful menstrual periods; tingling sensations; chest pain; increase in sensitivity and dizziness.

That much ibuprofen taken on a regular basis could cause ulcers, bleeding in the stomach and/or digestive tract, liver damage and a variety of “less” serious side effects that are similar to fibromyalgia symptoms, for which the ibuprofen was originally prescribed. These less serious — though still highly unpleasant — side effects include dizziness, muscle pain and cramping, depression, irritable bowel, fatigue and dry mouth.

Pain and fatigue are the most disabling features of fibromyalgia, but there are other distressing symptoms, too. 40-70 per cent of fibromyalgia sufferers experience irritable bowel syndrome or other gastrointestinal problems. Constipation and diarrhea, abdominal pain, excessive gassiness, nausea and gastroesophageal reflux are common.

If dizziness is a symptom of any kind of disease, there should be an accompanying signs that this may show for the sufferer to understand what’s causing it. Our brain is created to get responses from our senses, inhibiting balance flow of the senses signals, and if this is disrupted, this will result to interference of the right signal, therefore making us experience several dysfunctional attributes that may cause dizziness, nausea, or even fainting.

People who are in an emotionally drenching state can also experience dizziness especially after prolonged crying or plainly just because of thinking too much. Sometimes, our senses are being stimulated by several factors, like odors, medicines, food or the other person that stand next to another person. Sometimes, dizziness is also a result of lack of water in the body. Our body essentially needs water during hot season. Either way, frequent dizziness attacks should not be taken for granted; it is best advised to see a medical practitioner.

Dizziness may occur when too much time passes between meals, or as an early warning sign of dehydration. Lack of food or loss of bodily fluid interrupts the body’s physiological process; the electrolytes get out of balance.

Dizziness or vertigo can cause symptoms which can include: partial vision loss or double vision, loss of coordination, numbness (on one or both sides of the body), slurred speech, weakness, ringing in the ears, severe vomiting and general confusion. Any or all of these symptoms can subside when the headache begins, but it is also possible that some of the symptoms can last for several days, even after the pain goes away.

Common vertigo causes may or may not have to do with your athleticism. Vertigo is virtually always related to the vestibular system. This is a part of the inner ear. When the balance of the structures in the ear is thrown off, the resulting vertigo will also throw off the balance of the body itself. Anything out of whack in the inner ear can potentially cause vertigo.

Depression Test

December 2nd, 2008 by herbalremedies

One mental disease is depression. No, those afflicted aren’t somehow less than others. Crazy or nut case aren’t words that can be used to describe you. It simply means that you have a disease that affects the mind and requires treatment to be cured. Those with mental illnesses are head cases is something that is from the past. At the first sign of depression use a depression test that can be found on the Internet. For a basic idea of where you stand, an on line depression test is a great solution. If the results are positive then you can seek further information and even treatment.

The online depression screening result does not and will not try to substitute the expert opinions of doctors who know more about depression. Rather, the intention of the online depression screening test is just to establish a preliminary test for depressive symptoms. The reason why it is better if you try depression screening first before going to a doctor is to make check if you have symptoms that can lead to depressive condition. Remember that some of the symptoms of depression are also normally felt with people without the condition. The difference is that with depression, the degree and frequency of feeling down are great.

The person who is experiencing depression can take a depression test, or the near and dear ones, as also friends who are unable to discover whether their loved one is actually in a state of depression or not. The test is merely to see whether these symptoms occur for more than 2 weeks, and if they do, then it is a sure sign that you may need to see your doctor who will be able to help you.

Have been forgetting a lot of things off late? Remember that depression tends to cause hiccups in your memory and you would come to know that certain things are completely wiped out from the memory. The often leaves you totally baffled. This is another test that works towards providing you exact results.

Is it becoming difficult for you to skip at night? Or have you been sleeping very little during the night? If yes, then it may be due to a lot of coffee or stimulants. Why do you like coffee or stimulants too much? If you don’t have an answer for this, than the self depression test is going to provide you a great answer for it.

So what does the test involve? The test consists of an informal interview that is made up of either 17 or 21 questions which the interviewer asks the patient. Each answer that the patient gives is given a score. At the end of the interview the overall score is added together and the result is used to indicate whether the individual is suffering from mild, moderate or severe depression.

The Beck Depression Inventory Test

Another popular test is the Beck Depression Inventory test often used by mental health professionals. This test is based on 21 self-reported questions that correspond closely to the symptoms of depression as outlined in the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders 4th Edition. Each response is based on how the individual has felt over the previous two weeks. All of the responses to the questions are identified by a score of 0, 1, 2 or 3, which are then added together at the end to give a final score.

If you have been feeling out-of-sorts for an extended amount of time, you might consider taking a depression test. There are several ways you can do this. If you don’t feel up to a doctor visit, go online. Visit a website that can offer you a simple questionnaire to decide whether or not you might be clinically depressed. There is a wonderful website called lexapro.com that offers a very good depression test which is in the form of a simple questionnaire. You will also find answers there to any questions you might have about the way you are feeling. Another good web resource is depression.com. Please keep in mind that if your depression test results lead you to believe that you are in fact suffering from depression, you must make an appointment to see a physician and get treatment.

Canker Sore Treatment

November 30th, 2008 by herbalremedies

Canker sores, or mouth ulcers, can be a real pain in the… mouth! At any given time, millions of people are suffering from these painful little white mouth sores. At a minimum, the pain caused by canker sores is annoying and, for some people who often get 2 or more at a time, the pain can be debilitating.

Acidophilus - Many folks are known to take 2-3 acidophilus tablets 3-4 times a day as a canker sore treatment. The key is to be sure the capsules have live cultures. Yogurt is another good option that contains the same ingredient.

Plum Juice - Use 1-2 tablespoons of plum juice as a mouth wash and rinse with it for 2-3 minutes. Or, take a cotton ball soaked in plum juice and hold it against the canker sore for a few minutes.

Other remedies for canker sores are over the counter medicines that have camphor, benzocaine, menthol, eucalyptol or alcohol – or a combination of any of these – in gel or liquid form. These might sting when first applied to the canker sore and you will have to keep applying them because they don’t adhere to the canker sore.

While many foods can cause pain, there are some that work in your favor. Foods like yogurt, buttermilk and cottage cheese are great for canker sores. These foods all contain a substance that fights bacteria. If you are prone to getting canker sores it’s wise to incorporate them into your regular diet.

Your toothpaste could also be a cause for canker sores. Many toothpastes being sold in stores contain SLS. Short for Sodium Lauryl Sulfate, SLS is a substance that is tough on the delicate mucous membranes within the mouth. For anyone with a canker sore, it will only irritate it more and cause it to heal at a much slower pace.

Baking Soda - Canker sores and baking soda have been a good combination for many years now. Mix in a teaspoon of baking soda with some warm water and rinse in your mouth several times a day. The pain should go away within 24 hours. You can also mix the baking soda and a little water together to form a paste that you can then take and rub onto the sore itself. Canker sores and baking soda is very good remedy for those asking how to get rid of canker sores.

Mylanta - It may seem strange, but many health professionals suggest swishing around Mylanta in your mouth. You don’t need to swallow it though. This will help to coat the canker sore and also treat some of the bacteria. It should also help relieve the pain.

Tea Bag - Put a wet, black tea bag up against your canker sore. The tea bag contains ingredients that will relieve the pain caused by the sore.

So here you have many methods to help you find a good treatment for your canker sores. Also keep in mind that sometimes the sores are caused by allergies so anything that helps with allergies such as an antihistamine or vitamin C could also help you treat your cold sores. Just remember that there are things out there to help you if you will just take the time to research them and apply them.

Causes Of Chest Pain

November 30th, 2008 by herbalremedies

Chest pain is one of the most common reasons people seek emergency help at a hospital. The majority of these people seeking emergency help are concerned that they may be having a hear attack. While mild, to extreme chest pain, is one of the common symptoms of a heart attack, there are many other common reasons that can be atrributed to chest pain, even extreme chest pain can. Even a minor injury to the some parts of your body can leave you stricken with extreme chest pain.

Through simple testing your doctor will be able to eliminate some of the possibilities. Once the doctor decides that your chest pain is stress induced he will then attempt to identify the cause or causes so that they may be addressed as well. It is possible that your chest pain is being caused by an anxiety disorder rather than the stress that you are dealing with.

Location of the chest pain is a good indicator of whether you are having a heart attack or anxiety attack. Chest pain from anxiety is located over the heart and is described as “sharp.” It increases with breathing in and out, and doesn’t usually last more than a few minutes. Applying pressure to the chest also makes the pain worsen. In heart attack, chest pain is located in the center of the chest, and usually endures for longer than 10 minutes. It is not affected by pressing on the chest and breathing is usually normal unless fear of heart attack or dying triggers a panic attack, causing hyperventilation.

Chest pain caused by heart burn is often accompanied by gas. If it is a heart burn symptom and not a symptom of something else, then a product that relieves the gas will relieve the chest pain. Chest pain caused by heart burn generally originates at the top of the stomach or the burning sensation may be higher up in the throat. The burning sensation is a heart burn symptom and sometimes causes a feeling of nausea. But, chest pain that is accompanied by nausea without the burning sensation is more serious. The burning sensation is the heart burn sign. Any other chest pain should be evaluated by a physician.

Sometimes, one can have both acid reflux heartburn and heart disease issues both at the same time. Some people with coronary artery disease may develop chest pain from their acid reflux, which is believed that the acid in the esophagus may provoke nerves that temporarily impair blood flow to the heart, hence causing chest pain. This however, is probably not a heart attack. That is why it is important, especially for people with heart problems, to have their chest pain checked immediately by a doctor to determine the cause of the pain.

Angina pectoris: Chest pains may indicate blocked arteries. Do you get the chest pains when you engage in physical activities, try to handle emotional stress, or endure extreme temperatures? Do the chest pains feel like pressure under the breastbone? If so, ask your doctor to check for angina.

Costochondritis: This cause of chest pains is really an inflammation of the joints in your chest. Inflammation where ribs and breastbone connect may cause chest pain along the edges of your breastbone. Your pain may get worse when you cough or take a deep breath. An anti-inflammatory medicine or heat may relieve the pain. This problem usually goes away on its own. Ask your doctor about it.

Home Remedies for Acne

November 27th, 2008 by herbalremedies

Acne is a very common skin condition, affecting women and men of all ages. Also known as pimples, acne can appear on the face and neck, back and shoulders. Although a serious problem, few people suffering from Acne Vulgaris seek medical advice. Usually they either try to fight acne with traditional means, such as well-known cosmetic creams (Pro Active, PhytoMe Acne Gel,DDF BP Gel 5% with Tea Tree Oil) and home remedies, or don’t do anything, waiting for the pimples to disappear in time. Unfortunately severe acne leaves scars and it is very unpleasant especially for older people, because in old ages the skin cures slower after acne outbreaks.

Did you know that your toothpaste can help to reduce the swelling of your pimples? Apply some before you sleep and you will see the immediate effect the next morning.

Mix lemon juice with rose water. One lemon with same proportion of rose water will do. Apply it on your face and rinse it only after 30 mins. Constantly doing so will not only get rid of acne and pimples, but it also has the effect of lightening the skin blemishes.

Prepare a paste of sandalwood (chandan) powder with black gram (masoor) dal. It can be used on facial skin to treat the acne. Keep it overnight and wash it with cold water the next day.

Cucumber is one of the refreshing treatments used for the treatment of acne. It will make your skin look young. Blend the cucumber into a paste and apply it on the spots. Leave it for 30 to 45 minutes and then wash it off.

Another effective remedy is to make a paste from sandalwood and black gram. Use either milk or rose water as the base for the paste. Apply over the whole face, or just in the affected area, and leave it overnight. Wash your face clean with cool water in the morning. Sandalwood does a great job of reducing skin inflammation and irritation because it has a cooling effect.

Make a mixture of dried out and powdered pomegranates, apply it on acne areas of skin, leave it for the whole night, and rinse off right in the next morning. Do this practice for two weeks as you will be to find some amazing results.

Fresh up your skin with apple cider vinegar as this will be an excellent overnight home remedy for acne.

Application of the paste of tender neem leaves with turmeric powder helps in reducing the bacterial infection on the skin which is the root cause of all skin eruptions.

One should keep the scalp clean so as to avoid acne formation on the head. This could be done by shampooing the hair regularly.

Lemon juice can help to remove some of the dead skin cells and a balanced diet can give our body what it needs to encourage the healing process. Use these in balance with other natural methods and you might achieve limited success with home remedies for acne scars.

Effective Home Remedies For Constipation

November 27th, 2008 by herbalremedies

Home remedies for constipation starts and ends fruits. There is little else to counter it from home shelves. When we talk about fruits guava is a common one we can think of. The fruits invariably contain water in the form of juice and they combat constipation even in such a way too. There is much more to them than that of course. There is bael fruit, which is an excellent choice. Constipation is usually relieved with laxatives. But the laxatives are not exactly home remedies or products. Therefore, a bael fruit becomes much more important; yes, the bael fruit acts as a form of laxative as it has the properties and effectiveness of a laxative. Now then, bael fruit just does not act as a laxative and medicine, but also a juicy fruit, which tastes good. What better way to counter constipation than to taste a fruit and washing it away.

One home remedy which is particularly recommended is the use of cayenne pepper either as a seasoning on your food or you can take Cayenne capsules which are available in most grocery stores and pharmacies. Cayenne pepper is what is called a stimulating herb’ - a natural blood thinner and can help improve circulation. The main medicinal attributes of cayenne are derived from a chemical called capsaicin. As well as adding heat to the pepper, capsaicin acts to reduce blood platelet stickiness and relieve pain.

Therefore, in normal case scenarios, home remedies are the options preferred by general consensus. Such forms of natural intervention, in the alleviation of constipation, include the afflicted individual’s adequate intake of liquids, mainly good quality water, along with fibers from a dietary source. The fiber options are merely the inclusion of ample vegetables, fruits and whole grain breads, to incorporate a better balance in the daily diet, along with such considerations in supplementing the diet of the ailing with linseeds, all, to encourage the natural approach towards home remedies for constipation

Triphala Churna – consists of the herbs Harre, Bahera, and Amla – ground into a powder and taken with warm water or milk at bedtime

Honey – add honey to a glass of milk and drink twice daily. One of the good home remedies for constipation

Another way to help the intestine to void the stool is to cool it. Take a rough towel, fold it so that it can absorb water and place it on your lower abdomen after immersing it in cold water. Let the coolness percolate to the abdomen for about fifteen minutes. Or, you can take a mudpack. Take about one kilogramme of clay and knead it into a dough like consistency and spread it evenly on your lower abdomen-from the navel to the pubes. Some people are known to have benefited more from a mud bath than from a cold towel. It should be done before you for a walk. Cooling and then warming it through exercise helps the large intestine regain its tone.

Honey may be the best tasting laxative on this list. While mild in its potency, it will still do its job as long as you a tablespoon three times a day, either by itself or mixed in with warm water. Don’t forget that honey is a high concentrate sugar and is up there in calories, so use it sparingly as an occasional laxative.

Drink one liter of warm water and walk around for a few minutes immediately after waking up early in the morning.

Drinking a glass of warm milk before going to bed helps in easy evacuation in the morning.

Not really a traditional Chinese home remedy for constipation but effective, and highly nutritious, all the same. Put 2 or 3 fresh figs or dates, a very ripe banana, a spoon of honey or molasses and a cup of water into a blender. Mix well and drink once a day or so. Suitable for adults and children.

Ectopic Pregnancy Symptoms

November 26th, 2008 by herbalremedies

Ectopic pregnancy is not a normal pregnancy, the sperms reach the egg in the fallopian tube, where fertilization occurs, and then, this fertilized egg travels on to reach the uterus and implants itself there to complete the gestation period. The fertilized egg fails to reach the uterus for the gestation period and instead implant itself anywhere outside uterus, like cervix, fallopian tube, abdominal cavity. In general, the fertilized egg implants itself in the fallopian tube.

Symptoms

Ectopic pregnancy is usually diagnosed around six weeks of pregnancy. Your spouse should consult her obstetrician if she has any of the following symptoms:

Pain or tenderness in the abdomen or pelvis, especially while coughing or moving bowels, and which may become more severe or chronic with time

Vaginal bleeding

Shoulder pain, especially while lying down

Lower abdominal pain, which increases over a period of time, accompanied by lower back pain

Shoulder pain, which occurs, as the fetus draws blood for its growth, hampers the functions of diaphragm.

Ectopic pregnancy symptoms can include vaginal bleeding, pelvic pain, and severe abdominal pain. Other ectopic pregnancy symptoms are quite similar to the normal signs of being pregnant. These include nausea or morning sickness, tiredness, a missed menstrual period, and breast tenderness. This can make diagnosis somewhat difficult.

If you have symptoms of bleeding and stomach pain, be sure to see your doctor immediately. They can determine if you have tubal pregnancy from a simple blood test or an ultrasound. The key is early detection. If it can be treated early on, then the risks to your health and future pregnancies are greatly reduced. By keeping yourself aware of the signs of ectopic pregnancy you can eliminate potential health risks.

Though in many cases, the causes are unknown, the most common factors that lead to the risk of Ectopic pregnancy symptoms are fallopian tube problems, which can be due to pelvic infections (sexually transmitted diseases, pelvic inflammatory disease), intrauterine contraceptive devices, and endometriosis. Smoking, abdominal surgeries involving the reproductive system and several hormonal drugs like fertility drugs, contraceptive hormonal medication have also been associated with Ectopic pregnancies.

Slow rising hCG levels: Your doctor may run a quantitative hCG test in early pregnancy if you are having vaginal spotting or if he suspects ectopic pregnancy. Slow rising hCG levels can be an indicator of an ectopic pregnancy. During a normal pregnancy, hCG levels will double every two to three days in early pregnancy. With an ectopic pregnancy, hCG levels may rise but they tend to go up very slowly and not double like they should. If your hCG levels are low or not doubling your doctor may order more blood work or an ultrasound to rule out ectopic pregnancy or other complications.

Cramping: Mild cramping during early pregnancy is normal, but severe cramping or cramping accompanied with spotting, is not normal and could be a sign of an ectopic pregnancy. Cramping may be on one side or may feel like menstrual cramps.

Home Remedies for Ear Infections

November 26th, 2008 by herbalremedies

The ear is a very sensitive organ; it is the house of one of the most important senses of the human body – the auditory sense. Due to its delicate nature, there are several problems that can occur with the human ear. One of the most common problems occurs when the ear gets infected. In severe cases, pus formation may occur. Such inflammations of the ear commonly occur in children.

All ear infections and aches are collectively known as Putikarna in Ayurveda. They are generally caused due to vitiation of the kapha dosha, which is the body element that coordinates the earth and water elements of the body. Hence a person with ear problems must take care not to aggravate the kapha dosha further.

Home Remedies for Ear Infection

A suggested home remedy concerning the fungus associated with swimmer’s ear incorporates the use of vinegar, as its properties effectively treat such condition. The formulation’s recipe is simple, as white vinegar is mixed with water that is clean, at a fifty, fifty ratio. To administer, drop the blended solution into the ear. Then, wiggle the ear for proper distribution.

Pour the rice into the sock. Bind or tie the sock to secure the rice within it. Place the rice-filled sock into the microwave for sixty seconds. Apply the heated rice-filled sock onto the ear. This application has a duel purpose, in alleviating the source of pressure creating the discomfort, along with draining the build up of fluid within the ear. For optimum results, reapply this process frequently.

Peel 2 cloves of garlic and mix them with two teaspoons of mustard oil. Heat the mixture until the garlic turns black and then turn the heat off. Strain and cool until lukewarm. Apply 2 to 4 drops into the ear using a cotton swab. This is said to help alleviate ear pain.

Take a few whole basil leaves and grind them to make a juice. Place two drops inside the ear.

Mix some garlic oil with 3 drops of grape seed extract and place inside the affected ear.

Homemade Garlic Vinegar

Ingredients: 4 Garlic heads, divided into individual cloves and one pint of cider vinegar.

Intructions:

Using a blender, blend the unpeeled garlic cloves and vinegar thoroughly.
Transfer the mixture to a covered container and let sit at room temperature for at least 2 weeks.
Strain and discard the garlic.

Eating upright. Milk can cause irritation to the Eustachian tube in the inner ear while lying down. This can cause more severe ear infections. When the child has a cold or flu, try to eliminate all dairy products (provided you have stopped nursing). If the baby is on formula and your health care provider approves, switch to soy formula during the 10-15 days the child is sick to reduce mucus production. Dairy increases mucus in the system and bacteria grow more heavily when mucus is present.

Airborne pathogens. High VOC (Volatile Organic Compounds) emitting products like paint, cigarette smoke, and toxic household chemicals can lead to breathing dysfunctions. There is medical research evidence to suggest that these dysfunctions can cause ear infections.
